Hi, I was researching on George Orwell. I didn't know that there's a festival dedicated for him. I hope I get to visit the festival next year though.

You Tube has lots of interesting videos:
George Orwell Part 1- 6 documentary by Malcolm Hossick
The Real George Orwell again in parts a South Bank show from 2003 by D J Taylor
George Orwell A life in Pictures where Christopher Langham plays Orwell originally shown on the BBC.
All these have great documentary newsreal footage and archive photos (unfortunately the first has very irritating music!)
Also Oxford 2009 Richard Blair in conversation with D J Taylor

12 photos of Orwell here including one of him at ILP Summer School in Letchworth, 1937. Probably at St Chris' - not that you can recognise the surroundings.

There may be some confusion or a little poetic licence as far as Quarry House is concerned. The Blairs did live at Rose Lawn, Quarry House backed onto Rose Lawn and was lived in by the Buddicom family the three children of whom Jacintha was the oldest (2 years older than Eric) together with Prosper and Guinever were Eric's best friends and during school holidays they were inseperable. So either it is Quarry House which Eric Blair visited a great deal, or his home; Rose Lawn, has been renamed. A visit tol Shiplake would quickly determine which it is. Rose Lawn was in Station Road.

Facebook and Twitter: they may be all the rage, and the kind of thing that journalists and commentators who have little experience of the real world and ordinary people say will change the world, but little do they know. But for once I can agree with a democrat of right wing persuasion. No reason why he might not be right (occasionally!)
"George Orwell would be appalled by the hypocrisy of online activism" - http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/willheaven/100019810/george-orwell-would-be-appalled-by-the-hypocrisy-of-online-activism/

'Sampling is viewed by many as a corruption of the original, an attempt to re-invent history in a way that lends greater credibility to the sampler than the sampled.' Who exactly are these 'many' who hold this view? Writing 'viewed by many' without qualification is an attempt to lend credibility to an unsubstantiated comment. And since when is sampling 'an attempt to re-invent history'? That's the least likely motivation I can think of.
